Tips for traveling to Qatar

The World Cup in Qatar will be played between November 21 and December 18, 2022, with games in the cities of Doha, Lusail, Al Rayyan, Al Khor and Al Wakrah.

What to eat in Qatar? Machbous: meat or seafood risotto, made with a lot of seasoning. Hummus: paste made with chickpeas. Haruf: roasted lamb. Esh Esaraya: Cream cheese pie. Umm Ali: bread pudding, usually walnuts. Mehalabiya: pistachio flan.
Qatar is an Arab country, but it was colonized by the British until 1971. Therefore, Qatari cuisine is more Western than the rest of the Middle East, with a strong Indian influence as well. As Qatar is a port country and with a very fishing-oriented economy, it is very common to find restaurants that serve fish. In addition, grains such as rice are also routine foods in the country.

As it is an Islamic country, alcoholic beverages are not consumed here, nor is any meat or food derived from pork. In hotels the sale of these products is allowed and in stadiums it will probably be, as FIFA has a beer brand as a sponsor of the event. Some of the most popular restaurants in the capital are in the Souq Waqif market area, such as Al Kahris and Damasca One. You will even find a famous Brazilian steakhouse in Doha, The Braziliam, which is located in the Crowne Plaza mall. And, in terms of fast foods, in Doha you'll find those you're used to in big cities. That is, KFC, McDonald's and Burger King, in addition to others that follow the same line.

Facts about Qatar

Before purchasing your Qatar Cup package, see the following tips:
Language: despite being a Middle Eastern country and Arabic being the official language, the official language in Qatar is English, as the British influence still exists and the majority of the population is made up of immigrants.
Time zone: this is an important item for anyone who is going to watch the World Cup on television. Qatar's time zone is +3 hours longer than UTC time.
Land of air conditioning: due to the high temperatures in summer, the government of Qatar has a system to distribute air conditioning to the population, as well as water and electricity in Brazil. They use it whenever they want at home and in establishments, and at the end of the month they pay a separate bill for consumption.
Outlet: Qatar uses the D and G outlet systems, which have three identical inlets; that is, either all pins are round or all pegs are straight.
Government benefits: the population living in Qatar is provided with several facilities, such as exemption from water and electricity bills, guaranteed employment; in addition to medical care, free schools and colleges.

Flat land: the highest elevation in the territory of Qatar is 28 meters, as it is an almost completely flat country.
Religious manifestations: if you choose to stay in a hotel close to a mosque, know that at dawn you will be woken up by the religious chants of the faithful.
Artificial island and built city: be sure to visit The Pearl, a completely artificial island.
